Sierra Madre Kitchen Remodel

Scope: Kitchen Remodel + build-out

Location: Sierra Madre, California

Year: 2024

Designer: Design by homeowner + Casa Bonita Builders

Photographer: Lacey Wood Photography

This project focused on enhancing a historic home while preserving its original charm. The kitchen was fully remodeled without altering the footprint, allowing the architectural character to remain intact. A custom arched hood enclosure anchors the space, designed to sit cleanly on the countertop and integrate seamlessly with the surrounding cabinetry. The floors were refinished and lightened to create a softer, more neutral palette, and subtle functional updates were added to bring modern usability to a classic setting. The scope also included reimagining the lower level office, where removing an interior wall opened the space and improved flow. A fully custom built-in bookcase was designed to provide organized storage, display opportunities, integrated electrical components, and concealed compartments that support daily work. The result balances beauty and practicality while honoring the home’s historic character and the homeowners’ desire for thoughtful, lasting design.
