Pasadena Addition

Scope: Major Home Addition + Interior Remodel + Accessibility Upgrades

Location: Pasadena, California

Year: 2020

Designer: Casa Bonita Team in close collaboration with Architect (structural + layout)

This remodel transformed an older Pasadena home into a more open, accessible, and comfortable space suited for long-term living. The original layout had narrow pathways, uneven floor transitions, and a steep stairwell that made daily movement difficult. The team expanded both levels, widened circulation areas, leveled flooring, and incorporated an accessible bath design to create safer transitions and a smoother flow throughout the home. The back portion of the house was reimagined with new living space, refreshed bathrooms, an updated laundry room, and a redesigned stairwell with gentler proportions. A new deck, updated windows, fresh paint, and new engineered flooring brought cohesion and warmth to the expanded footprint. The finished home blends accessibility with thoughtful design, allowing the homeowners to remain in a space that now supports their routines with comfort, dignity, and ease.
