La Cañada Remodel

Scope: Partial Home Remodel + Layout Reconfiguration

Location: La Cañada, California

Year: 2024

Architect: James V. Coane & Associates

Designer: Design by Casa Bonita Builders in collaboration with homeowner

Photographer: Lacey Wood Photography

This whole home remodel reshaped the flow and functionality of a La Cañada residence with improved proportions, clarified room layouts, and a more intuitive floor plan. Guided by the architect’s plans, the Casa Bonita team reworked the layout to bring open and right-angled structure to the angular footprint. Updates also included two redesigned bathrooms, some new windows, and converting the high ceilings into second floor laundry room. As we worked through the home, a number of structural and system challenges required thoughtful coordination. Rather than letting them interrupt the design, we integrated them quietly into the architecture by concealing necessary elements within cabinetry and trim. Custom shelving, new archways, and careful adjustments to the existing angles brought the home into balance, creating a space that feels bright, cohesive, and calm.
